Assignment 6:Hate and the Internet
- I think the hate speech means that somebody said very harmful and sick words.
- I agree with the limits on free expression in order to deal with the problems posed by hate speech. I think these limits would reduce the power of freedom of speech and inhibit the hate speech. Also, I think it is very hard to distinguish the freedom of speech and hate speech.
- I agree that we should attempt to reach an international consensus on how to define hate speech. But I disagree that we need to reach the international consensus on the same standards. Because different countries have different cultures and phenonmena, every country's has its own basic condition or state.
- I think the censorship and the filtering of hate group websites is appropriate. For example, the government websites have careful censorship to monitor hate speech.
- I think creators of hate-oriented Web sites should be held responsible for actions of people who view those sites and then commit hate crimes. Because these people provide easy chances for other people to rescieve these hate speech.
- Yes, I would advocate special restrictions on making hate-related material available to children via the Internet. People can set up that the age limit. If the person's age under 18 years old, the personal ID will prove that the children will be refused by the websites.
- No, I don't think there is any distinction between what is legal online and what is legal offline. Because they are so similar and they are hard to be distincted.
- Yes, these two standards should be distincted. The first one will be harmful for all people. But the second one should be banned from children. They concerned on different people.
