The Town of Durham

Durham offers a full range of recreational opportunities for
residents and visitors alike. As a true seacoast waterfront community,
Durham offers a wide variety of the best in boating, sailing, fishing, and
swimming.
Make sure to visit Adams Point, a beautiful estuary located on Great Bay,
where families and hikers bring picnic baskets and binoculars to spend a
day enjoying the scenery, catching glimpses of wildlife (horseshoe crabs
and great blue herons abound), and walking trails through fields, woods,
and rocky beaches.
And don't forget Oyster River Landing/Shipyard Landing, situated on Oyster
River, a favorite spot for residents and UNH students to relax on blankets
or at picnic tables. If you're lucky, you'll see the famous swans who make
their home at the nearby Mill Pond, or spot great blue herons who stand at
the dam in hopes of catching their food.
Numerous parks and recreational areas dot the town, and through careful
planning, features like bike lanes and trails are being added constantly
to enhance enjoyment of Durham's spectacular landscape.
- Official Durham Website
Wow, Durham is most certainly filled with an assortment of fun
activities for 18 to 22 year olds! Haha, yeah right. Unfortunately for
the most of us, Durham offers very little in concerns to recreation and
entertainment. Yes, there are the numerous bars and restuarants, Libby's,
Youngs, JP's and many more but no real places to just hang out, relax or
chill or "Chillaxin" if you are "hip." At one time Durham actually had an
arcade. This arcade was located on Mainstreet where JP's and Durham
House of Pizza is located. It then moved behind JP's and DHOP due to the
fact that they needed more floor space. Sadly the arcade closed down
years ago and now we have another Pizza Place and a place to get our hair
done, "Yippee." So if you are smart like most students, you find a
vehicle, bus, motorcycle or car and leave Durham as fast as you can
because the only things of interest that happen around this town are the
occasional riots sparked by a Professional Sports Team Win/Loss or our own
Beloved Wildcats getting defeated in the Frozen Four.
SO LET's LEAVE DURHAM NOW!
