Steps for creating a web page

Download the pageTemplate file from Blackboard to my computer.

Open the pageTemplate using Notepad and Save As a new file name.

Enter the element tags and content for the page.

All tags are entered in lowercase and enclosed with greater than and less than symbols.
The main page tags are html, head, body. They are paired tags.
The main text block tags are headers, paragraph, blockquotes.

View the file in a browser window. Made edits in the Notepad file.
Save the file, return to the browser, and refresh the page.

Upload the file to the cisunix.unh.edu server using Filezilla.

Open the page on the server with the URL: http://pubpages.unh.edu/~src6/

Page elements in Chapter 2

• The head tag defines information for the browser.
• The body tag defines text and media content on the browser window.
• Most tags are paired. They have an opening and closing tag.
• Some tags are self contained, such as the line break and horizontal rule.
• Heading tags are paired and present different font sizes.
• Paragraph tags are paired and wrap text automatically.
