Common Unix Commands
Some of the most common used commands are:
- cd: allows you to change into the specified directory.
- cp: Copies one file from one location to another location.
- mkdir: allows you to create a new directory at the current level of the tree with the name you give itin the command
- chmod: change the permissions of a file or directory for the three tupes of viewers: users, group, and others. Can alter whether the file or diectory is readable, writable, or executable for each group of user.
- ls -l: lists all files and directories in the current directory showing their permissions, size, and timestamp.
