Assignment 6:Hate and the Internet

  1. I think hate speech is negative opinion based on personal situation with emtional thinking. Normally it is aggssive and used to attack the unaccept opinion.
  2. I don't it is useful to set limitation on free expression to deal with hate speech. Hate speech is a fact that would exist no matter if people know it. And it is not clear that it would have positive effect while pressure people on their free expression. But I hope it could be controlled in some ways.
  3. I think it is good if all the Internet users vote to find out some standards to define hate speech and control it in a paceful way.
  4. I think the censorship and the filtering of hate group websites can't solve the problem. In some situation, it is needed to set as limitations to make people have a good internet environment. But if people try to use them stop hate speech, it might make people scared and hate groups still can't be destroyed.
  5. I think they don't take full responsiblities. Because they may not do it with purpose leading people into crimes, but I think they are response to let people know it is not right or set limitations to let people understand it is not what they want to make people engage in hate crimes.
  6. Yes, I think this action is needed to protect children away from the negative information from the internet. I think it would be helpful to set up some questions which is determind how much the Internet user understand the right or wrong for the information which would display on these websites.
  7. Yes, I think online information can spread much fast than offline. But to the ideas that people would have should be equal no matter you are online or offline.
  8. Yes, I think some other material such as pornography could be more serious. With more people questioned about the creditable of the online information, some poeple are already accustomed to ignore the hate-related material. But some others especially violent and booldy image makes people unconfotable.
