Choosing the Right Cymbals for Your Drumkit
Now if you thought the selection of shells was dizzying, just wait until you go to pick out cymbals. The major companies here are Paiste, Sabian, Zildjian, and Meinl. I'm not even going to attempt to walk you through all the possibilities here because there are hundreds, but I will tell you the basic cymbals every kit should not go without. You'll need a pair of high-hat cymbals, a ride cymbal, at least two crash cymbals, a china cymbal, and a splash cymbal.
