Tray of Cupcakes This is one of the first completed trays of cupcakes we created. This tray doesn't include any of the larger sized cupcakes.

Rainbow of Cupcakes

We dyed several bags of frosting light blue, dark blue, orange, pink, yellow, and purple and used these colors to both frost and decorate each of the cupcakes.

Yellow Cupcake Green Cupcake In these pictures it's easier to see the colorful cupcake covers we used. Oftentimes the covers used are made of paper, but these are made of aluminum foil which is easier to remove when you want to eat your cupcake and helps keep the colorful designs that might be on the outside of the cupcake cover. The downside to this kind of cover is that if you wait too long, like we did, to frost and eat the cupcakes, the cover begins to come off of its own volition, which caused us some trouble when we began decorating them.

Inside a Cupcake Like the frosting we dyed, we also dyed bags of cake batter and layered them color by color into the pan. We quickly discovered that it's easy to get carried away, leaving some layers of color thicker or thinner than others. This was something we had never attempted before, but all things considered they looked and tasted great.

Cow Cupcakes Having not put a huge amount of planning into the number of cupcakes we were going to make, we found that we had odd amounts of leftover batter. We used the leftover chocolate and vanilla batter and mixed them together in the cupcake tins. When we took them out of the oven, we discovered that our cupcakes had what appeared to be cow spots.
