Interesting Facts About Labrador Retrievers

Labrador Retrievers are one of the top ten most popular dog breeds. Labradors are very friendly dogs and make a great family pet. They are very athletic dogs and enjoy hunting and swimming.They are no stranger to H₂O and it is a great form of exercise for them.

Labradors are recognized for coming in three different colors. Those colors are listed below.

General Appearance

Labradors are extremely cute when they are puppies. They are very adventurous and will tag along wherever you go. This puppy to the left had no problem hopping in the swing, as long as her owner was by her side.

Labs are medium-sized, short-coupled, dog possessing a sound, athletic, well-balanced conformation that enables it to function as a retrieving gun dog. Labrador Retrievers have a short, dense, weather resistant coat; an "otter" tail; a clean-cut head with broad back skull and moderate stop; powerful jaws; and its "kind" friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament.

Why Labrador Retrievers are Popular Pets

Labradors come in 1^st place as most popular dog in the United States.

This breed of dog has a playful temperment and is more family oriented than other breeds of dogs.This breed is very adventurous and also helpful. A very large portion of trained guide dogs are Labrador Retrievers. In fact, the American Kennel Club says Because of his aptitude to please his master they excel as guide dogs for the blind, as part of search-and-rescue teams or in narcotics detection with law enforcement.

The AKC provides evidence that Labradors have the ability to train which makes them a great animal to own and it is shown in the picture above that Labs are very friendly pets!
