Sarah Merrill is a third year student at the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School of Business and Economics. She is currently working towards her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, and will also be earning a minor in Hospitality Management. Sarah has participated in the Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity at UNH, and has also studied abroad for a semester in London, England. Sarah's work experience includes positions in the hospitality industry, starting off her college career working for the University's Dining and Catering Services. Sarah went on to spend two summers working at Starbucks, giving her a chance to strengthen her customer service and communication skills. Starbucks was also beneficial because it was a team environment, and improvement is always the store's goal. Previous to college, Sarah worked for a Certified Public Accountant, learning about the industry and handling organizational tasks, as well as processing payroll. Although uninterested in Accounting at the time, it later set her up to make a more informed decision to major in Accounting. Most recently, Sarah has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of New Hampshire. This experience was one of the most beneficial to learn organizational skills, time-management skills, and improve her abilities in data mining and reporting. Additionally, she has worked for a larger CPA firm as an office assistant and made some great contacts there. In the future, Sarah hopes to continue improving her skills, and gain further experience in the industry before she graduates in the spring of 2013. She is considering the M.S.A. program to further her Accounting education, and hopes to have a career she can be proud of, and enjoy the work she does. |
