Rivers:

Piscataqua River

The Piscataqua River divides Maine and New Hampshire and is the location of the historic Portsmouth Harbor.
One of the Piscataqua's claim to fame is that, according to the NOAA , its tidal current is rated as One of the fastest in North America.

Oyster River

Located at the beginning of Little Bay, Oyster River was named after the vast quantities of oysters early settlers found. Over the centuries, mass consumption of oysters erradicated the river's namesake resource. Only recently have oysters returned to the river.
The Oyster River School District, or, ORSD, is named after this river, as the included towns are located near the river. The names of the towns belonging to ORSD are:

  1. Durham
  2. Lee
  3. Madbury

Oyster River Massacre

According to an article online:

"During King William's War, on July 18, 1694, the English settlement was attacked in the Raid on Oyster River by French career soldier Claude-Sebastien de Villieu with about 250 Abenaki Indians from Norridgewock under command of their sagamore, Bomazeen (or Bomoseen). In all, 45 inhabitants were killed and 49 taken captive, with half the dwellings, including 5 garrisons, burned to the ground."
