Insect Photography

Photography of insects is technical challenge. It involves special "macro" lenses, a steady shooting surface, and cooperative subjects. It can be difficult to find interesting insects to shoot and even harder to make them cooperate or capture them in a static moment. When successful, however, insect photography is rewarding and bring the viewer an image they might never have seen. The intricacy and form of insects is diverse and spectacular, and can be appreciated when enlarged for easy and comfortable viewing.

The following are three examples of how different artists have approached insect photography. There is much variation in this kind of work, but there are consistencies as well. Each photographer strives for clarity, detail, good composition, and excellent lighting. These examples are pulled from the website http://www.1x.com/, an excellent source of digital photography. They are not my work, they are the work of the artists listed at the bottom of the images.
