History:
Pine Valley Inc. was established in 1976 in Portland, Maine by a family of loggers, the Millwood family. Together, they came up with the company based on their experience working with all varieties of trees and knowledge of building furniture. Since the Millwood's lived in Maine, trees were plentiful and they planned on taking advantage of their surroundings. The owner of the company, Bob Millwood, suggested that the family should make a few pieces of furniture to see how customers would respond to their craftsmanship before attempting to launch the company. The family milled some of their logging wood and built a sample of each type of furniture that would potentially be offered in their store, items for the home and office. Office furniture would separate the Millwood's from traditonal furniture stores because at the time not many people had thought of the idea. The furniture was an instant success and shortly thereafter the company was founded and the rest as they say is history.
Mission:
Here at Pine Valley our mission is simple, provide any family with the opportunity to purchase quality, hand-crafted furniture at reasonable prices. We want to be recognized by our customers as loyal and up front about everything we sell, by guaranteeing no tricks, gimmicks, or hidden fees. Pine Valley Inc. strives for excellence in the furniture market and promises to always produce high quality furniture that is sure to last a lifetime.
Vision:
Our vision for the next ten years is to open up at least three more stores throughout the New England area and become nationally recognized as a reliable furniture store. However, we do not plan on expanding much beyond this as we do not want to chance compromising quality and therefore our reputation. Pine Valley Inc. plans on staying close to its roots (no pun intended) and giving back to the community as a way to thank those who helped give rise to our brand.
