Hello, and welcome to my home page!
A little bit about me :
I came to UNH in 1980 as a naive first-year student, thinking that I'd be leaving here in four years. HAAA!!! Here I am, light years later. I fondly call it "doing my life sentence at UNH." I say "fondly," because I really do like my job.
I dropped out of UNH in 1983 to become an old married lady. I did eventually finish up an Associate in Applied Sciences degree from the Applied Business Management Program at UNH's Thompson School of Applied Science,. But wait! I didn't stop there. I continued on to earn a four year Bachelor of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in Business Management from the School for Lifelong Learning, now known as College for Lifelong Learning (CLL).
I started my professional career here working in the Registrar's Office, back when it was located in T-Hall. I moved on to the Space Science Center, when it was located in Hamilton Smith (like most offices here, it moved eventually), and off to Student Affairs in Huddleston after that. I used to like to joke that my next office would be in Burger King, progressing down the street. My job function in Student Affairs got moved to Computing & Information Services in July, 1992, which is how I arrived in Kingsbury Hall, working for a group that is currently known as Network Information Services.
A good portion of my day used to be spent maintaining the information in
UNHINFO, UNH's campus-wide
information system (CWIS). I was involved with the CWIS
from July of 1989, when VideoTex (aka
WILDCAT) went online--eventually migrating to the UNHINFO platform, until
September of 1995, when I accepted a position as Data Base
Administrator and Administrative Systems Programmer in CIS's Systems
Management & Operations Group, commonly known as SMOG. That's where I am
today, and hope to stay!
As Data Base Administrator, I work with both the Oracle and System 1032 database products, running on VMS systems on a VAX cluster. I'll tell you more about what I do with these products some other day.
Earlier, I mentioned getting married. My husband Steve, who is an Associate Professor at the Thompson School here in Durham, has his own personal home page. Check it out!!! Not only does he enjoy his teaching job, but he also likes being a yuppy poser biker type, blasting at the firing range, playing golf, and being a computer dweeb, among other things. Here's Steve on our recent trip to New Orleans.
My brother got Steve & I off the hook with my family by
siring three adorable children. See them for
yourself!
Thanks for visiting my home page. Hope you weren't bored out of your gourd. Do drop in again ... it is nowhere near done!
