(A Small Slice of my Life)

My interests rotate liberally among: hiking/backpacking, computers, music, art (with oil painting now my speciality), sports (I am a guy, after all), and the grasp and appreciation of all forms of information-- past or current. Information is key now, for I am the head person at the Chemistry Library here at UNH, a position I have enjoyed for seven years.

I received traditional education up through the University level, and I pride myself on retaining my interest in taking courses on a continual basis, the result of which allowed me to participate in this class at this time.

What about this "Nature Boy" Stuff?

The Natural Philosophy

I love to pursue my muse in the environs of natural settings, whether it be while contemplating a view from a mountaintop, or during a long swim in a remote pond at sunset. It has been this way since I first picked up a large garden spider from its web with utter fascination (and to the horror of my mother..) when I was five years old.

What About My Music?

Categories and Cubbyholes

My tastes in music are wide and varied, as many of my other interests are. At one time or another, I have listened to almost everything, since as a young teen, I appreciated the offerings of AM radio. In those days (the 'sixties, if you must know...), AM played eclectic sets of tunes. I got into blues, jazz, and even reggae, through soul and R & B from the old AM format. I explored rockabilly and later "alt-country" through rock and roll music. Of course, I had my "gods" as well-- the Beatles, Stones, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix, and I regret that these days people cannot have the "heroes" in the sense I knew them as these aforementioned artists were to me.

How About the "Real" Music?

If there is one style of music I don't like as well, it is classical. I do like some string quartet and single-instrument arrangements (such as cello, viola, or guitar). But, I do draw the line on opera-- it's an acquired taste that I just haven't quite acquired yet...

And now it's on to Web Page Construction in earnest!
