The Story Behind It All

Durham House of Pets was founded way back in 1923.It started up in the very place that its corporate headquarters stands today;Durham,NH. The founder was a man named Grand Master Chief, who is in fact the great-grandfather of the companies current CEO and Chairman, Master Chief.Once a small urban pet suppy shop, the company has grown into a large corporation consisting of hundreds of employees in several different locations around the New England area.

Today, Durham House of Pets sells a wide variety of products that range from simple food for reptiles and cats to lederhosen costumes for dogs. The products are very different from the ones that were sold in the beginning stages of Durham House of Pets. Most products sold back then were ordinary food products that any owner would feed their pet as well as collars and leashes that are common to pet owners.

Many aspects of the store have changed over time as well as the way we view our procedures. An awareness of animal cruelty and mortality rates has really increased over the past decade and we have changed our motto to follow suit. No longer is it the customer who is right, but it is the animal who is right. Your pets know what they want and they'll let you know whether they like it or dislike it so we ask that you take time to undertstand and find out what exactly is best for your pet. Once you've done that we only ask that you shop here and no where else.
