Skiing is probably my favorite thing to do in the winter. I started skiing with my dad when I was around 8 years old, and I used to go skiing with him quite a bit every year. Unfortunately, I haven't really been able to go much in the past few years, only a handful of times. The year before last I only went skiing twice and last year I didn't get to go at all, so my skis have been collecting dust for a while now. I'm looking forward to making it onto the slopes at least once this year, but hopefully I can get out there a few times.
Typically when I am at home with some spare time I like to watch movies or play video games. I mainly watch movies or tv shows on Netflix using my Roku. The Roku is a small device just for streaming video services like Netflix and Amazon plus hundreds more, it's actually pretty impressive. They are inexpensive, small, have no moving parts, and can stream video in full 1080p high definition over wifi. It's actually quite a contrast with my game console of choice, the Xbox360. I have one of the original models, so it's really loud and it throws a lot of heat. It will actually raise the temperature of a room after a while. I actually used to use the Xbox360 for watching Netflix before I got a Roku last Christmass, but the Roku is definitely much better for that purpose because it is quiet. The only advantage to using Netflix on the Xbox360 is the ability to use the Kinect to control Netflix with voice commands and hand gestures. It didn't work perfectly, but it was very cool and futuristic.
