History

On April 27, 2002, doors were opened into a new pet supply store in Durham, New Hampshire – the Durham House of Pets. Joseph Connelly, the founder of DHP, used his graduate business degree from the University of New Hampshire and his love of pets to sculpt his new store. Originally started as a small pet supply store with just the essentials, Durham House of Pets got the opportunity to change locations to a larger office, and expanded their capabilities. DHP went from being a small local pet store, to a commercial pet store with an expansive selection that rivals the best pet stores in New England. With the added space, Connelly added a grooming section to the store, hiring head groomer Alex Buell into the operation. Today, Durham House of Pets has grown to be an award winning pet store for the state of New Hampshire.
