Family/Friends

My name is Nicole Allain and I am a sophomore at the University of New Hampshire . I turned 20 years old two months ago which is still hard to believe. I am from Hopkinton MA but I have not lived there my whole life. I grew up in Framingham MA, until I was eleven years old and then moved to Hopkinton. I have a few close friends from Framingham that I still talk to now which is comforting.

In my family I am the middle child, I have an older brother, Justin, and a younger sister, Danielle. My parents names are Renee and Peter. Ever since I got to college my relationship which my family has gotten much stronger. I realized how fortunate I am to have such a loving family in my life. My mom works for an elderly home in Framingham called St.Patrick's Manor . She works the 11pm-7am shift and I have no idea how she makes it work with being a mom. She works that late so that she can be home during the day so she won't miss family things like my sister's hockey/soccer/softball games. I look up to her for being able to work as hard as she does and hope to be just like her. My dad owns his own construction company called Allain Construction. He has 2 workers, Dave and Russ, who have been with him from the start. I also admire him for having such a successful company but only having gone to two years of a technical college. I feel like society stresses the fact that the only way you will be successful is if you go to college so I respect him going against the odds. My brother is twenty-two and graduated from Southern New Hampshire University. He is now attending grad school there as well. My sister is thirteen years old and I swear she grows a foot taller and more mature every time I come home. She is very athletic and plays girl's hockey, softball, and soccer. Being away from home has made us closer too.

The transition from high school to college has made me realize which friends I'll stay close with. I have a lot of great friends from home who I have remained very close with. My three closest girl friends from home, Jen, Marykate, and Nicole have been with my through it all. My best guy friends Paul, Ricky, Chris, and Jack are people I constantly keep in touch with. Since I don't see my friends from home everyday like I use to, it's all about keeping in touch and putting in effort. People change but I believe everything happens for a reason. I have made some incredible friends up here too.My roommate from Freshman year is still my roommate this year and I wouldn't have survived Freshman year without her. My other two roommates, Jordan and Michaela, are also two people whos friendship I value so much.

I also have two dogs named Maggie and Molly. They are beagles, Maggie is about seven years old and Molly is about five years old.
