Nick Smith is a philosophy professor at the University of New Hampshire. Previously a litigator at a major New York law firm and a judicial clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, he teaches and writes on issues in law, politics, and society. He published I Was Wrong: The Meanings of Apologies in 2008 and Justice through Apologies: Remorse, Reform, and Punishment in 2014 (both with Cambridge University Press). These pages contain information regarding his teaching, research, and service, including interviews with Diane Rehm, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Guardian UK, NPR, BBC, CBC, CNN, Fortune, Philosophy Talk, and others.
