These plots show particle trace simulation results for several different analyzer geometries. The first plot shows the energy and angle acceptance. The red traces show the effect of adding a 0.100in wide entrance slit collimator at the center of the detector acceptance. The skew is the mean acceptance angle. Ideally it should be zero. Negative numbers indicate the look direction skews upwards toward the top cap.
The second plot shows the exit focusing. The particle location when crossing a screen at 0.070in below the analyzer is used for these plots.
The middle panel shows the radius distribution at the exit screen. The MCP active area extends to 0.800. The resistive strip runs from 0.610 to 0.780. The BEEPS magnet section nominal entry point is at 0.750
The bottom panel shows a histogram of the distance from the analyzer where the particle trace passes through zero in Z. This gives an indication of where the focus point is. The red line shows the position of the exit screen.

Focus point is above the exit screen.

Focus is well below exit screen (as it should be for a high energy analyzer).

Focus point is too far above the exit screen.

Focus point is above the exit screen but may be usable.
