In memory of
Zia-ul-Haq, 35, son of Haji Abdul Wahid
A male driver
At 8 P.M. on April 17, 2009
Killed on the road between Gereshk and Baghran in northern Helmand. The members of the Zia-ul-Haq family were returning home to Baghran from Kabul. They were riding in a chauffeured car when all of a sudden a NATO helicopter fired at the moving vehicle. The result was: Zia and his wife and driver killed, a 3-months old baby girl survived (as an orphan). Zia was the son of a famous commander, Haji Abdul Wahid. We know about this because of the independent reporting of Zainullah Stanikzai of Pajhwok Afghan News (complete silence from the Associated Press’s Fisnik Abrashi based in Kandahar).
