In
memory of and sympathy for
2
children killed aged 8 and 12
3
adults wounded

on
Sunday, February 1, 2009
in
the district of Nad Ali, Helmand Province. In a firefight between
Taliban and British
occupation forces at a compound, two children were killed and three
local
Afghan adults were wounded in the compound. Only the independent
Pahjwok Afghan
News, the Press Association,
and the
Agence France Presse found the incident worth reporting in its article
headlined “Three Afghan Civilians Killed in Military Action: NATO.” As
usual,
silence from the Associated Press and the British military
spokesperson,
Commander Paula Rowe, trotted out the line that Taliban use civilians
as human
shields.
