In
memory of and sympathy for
8 civilians killed
17 others wounded
 on Monday, February 23, 2009
in
Gul Agha Shilay in Sarwan Qala area of Sangin
district of Helmand Province. After a clash with the Afghan resistance,
NATO-led (British?) troops and their Afghan satraps on reconnaissance came
under fire. The foreign occupation force called-in close air support strikes. A statement from the provincial
governor’s office said several civilians were killed. Resistance sources reported
that 5-7 civilians perished. NATO in Kabul admitted “civilian casualties” but
added that all received “immediate medical treatment and were taken by
helicopter to ISAF hospitals.” In early
March, the NATO command admitted that 8 civilians had died and 17 others were
wounded.
