In memory of

Parents of Bibi Asha, 5, and her 1-yr-old brother, Hayatullah

died in the night of July 1, 2002

in the village of Kakarak in Uruzgan Province. Bibi and Hayatullah are two of the many orphans of the wedding massacre. Biba Asha, 5, her foot in a bandage, sat in Kandahar’s Mir Wais Hospital beside her one-year-old brother, Hayatullah, his face pocked with shrapnel wounds from U.S projectiles. Relatives said the children’s parents were killed. A U.S projectile punched a hole in the home of Tor Agha in Kakarak. Tor recalled, “…here we found half the body of a child…the rest was over there….” and crossing the compound he pointed to a step of a home, “…and the head here.”
