Noor Ali, driver of a fuel truck

died around noon on October 22, 2001

eight miles outside Kandahar on the highway to Herat. U.S warplanes began their offensive against privately-owned fuel tanker trucks on this day. Dozens of fuel trucks would be rocketed and bombed over the next two months. On this day, 5 trucks were hit just outside Kandahar. A Pakistani national, Noor Ali, was one of the five drivers killed. His body was brought to Chaman on the Pakistani border and buried in a local grave.
