In memory of
Mr. Kakar’s 8 family members
killed early Saturday morning, July 15, 2006
in the town of Sangin (Sangeen) next to the Helmand River. Local residents and eyewitnesses told the independent Afghan Islamic Press that U.S. planes had bombarded the town, striking the home of a Mr. Kakar and totally destroyed it. Eyewitnesses said, “the family consisting of ten, eight bodies were found while searching continues for remaining two.” The bombing no doubt preceded the landing by helicopter that morning of British troops in Sangin. Occupation forces spokespersons, as usual, reported that 10 Taliban had been killed in a pre-dawn attack.
