in the Bagh-e Pul neighborhood of western Kandahar city. U.S cluster bombs were dropped in the Bagh-e Pul area on October 16, 2001, killing 13 civilians then. That “precision” strike was aimed at a former Taliban tank and weapons depot and a regimental barracks. Seven months later, two boys – Niaz Mohammad, 16, and Mohammed Rafia, 13 – were grazing their cows and sheep and Niaz picked up one of the U.S cluster bomblets. It exploded, seriously injuring Rafia, blinding Niaz and severing his right hand .
