In memory of

Many civilians killed

during the afternoon and night of January 18, 2008

in the mountainous region of Watapur (Watapoor) of Kunar province. The NATO propaganda office in the guise of one Mohammad Shafiq Hamdard, announced that 24 “anti-government elements” had been killed – a completely unverifiable assertion. An alleged 21-hour battle raged in which occupation ground and air forces, artillery and attack helicopters were employed. In July 2007, similar fanciful assertions were made by NATO claiming “37 Taliban militants” had been killed, but instead a local government investigation found 27 civilians had been killed in NATO-led air strikes. Very probably the helicopter and fixed wing aircraft aerial attacks in Watapur killed many civilians.
