Mahtab’s younger child

died in early December 2001

in the city of Kandahar. Mahtab, 38, lost her husband and younger child to the fierce U.S bombing of Kandahar in early December. She lives with her surviving 16-year old son, collecting grass which she boils with tea for food. Mahtab was interviewed by John Fullerton of Reuters (1/23/02 at 10:37 AM ET).
