In memory of

Jamal Zai’s 2 cousins (aged 8 and 10)

died around November 14, 2001

in a village in central Afghanistan’s Hazara region. Jamal, 26, a wheat farmer went to work in his wheat field with his two young cousins, aged 8 and 10. In mid-morning a U.S war plane dropped two bombs which exploded between Zai’s field and his uncle’s adjacent land, killing the 2 children and causing extensive shrapnel injuries to Zai. Zai said the field was about a ten minutes’ walk from a house in which Arab families were living. He had seen women and children there but did not know if the men were there.
