In memory of
Imkhal’s grand-daughter, 8
died on October 30, 2001
in the Mahajerqhilak refugee camp in the Sholgara-Kishindi district of Balkh Province. For one hour in the middle of the night, U.S warplanes dropped 14-15 bombs on the refugee camp located in caves dug into the side of a hill just north of Sholgara. 8 people were killed and 9 others wounded. The hill is now pockmarked with bomb craters. Imkhal, a mother, was sleeping with her 8-year-old grand-daughter when the U.S “precision” bomb fell.
