In memory of and sympathy for

Haji Ghulam Muhammad, father, killed

His two sons, killed

A woman injured

Another 2 children injured

during the night of October 31/November 1, 2007

in the village of Amber Khaneh, Bati Kot district of Nangarhar Province. U.S-led forces raided a compound during the middle of the night (when people are at home sleeping), sparking a gun battle. A father and his two sons from a family were killed (photo above by Rahmat Gul, A.P. shows the dead bodies) and another 2 children and a woman were wounded. Three men from the home were abducted by U.S. troops (to a fate unknown…the Bagram gulag?). The Bati kot district chief and a tribal elder confirmed the account, saying the foreign forces stormed into the house of Haji Muhammad whose sons sold sugarcane juice and yoghurt in the border town of Torkkam. Muhammad and his minor sons were killed while asleep in their home. As usual, a U.S. Army Major (Chris Belcher) put out the “sincere condolences,” the promise of an “investigation,” and added the pabulum that the Taliban were to blame for using human shields.
