close to the border village of Angoor Adda in Barmal, Paktika when U.S. war planes dropped a 1,000 lb bomb on the home of Gangi Khel, killing 11 members of his family and critically wounding a 12th member. The dead belonged to the Ahmedzai tribe. Gangi Khel was away which spared his life. The pilot of the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8 Harrier jet guided the bomb himself with a laser beam. U.S. and Afghan forces had been engaged in a battle with some 20 resistance fighters and had called-in close air support. Across the border in Angoor Adda, Pakistan, shopkeeper Muhammad Ramzan said people were outraged, “these people had nothing to do with the attack on allied forces.”
