in Morgai village, some 20 kms west of Agam, Awagam district of Nangarhar province. On the ninth day of U.S. bombing, U.S. warplanes struck the villages of Morgai and Gerekhil located southwest of Jalalabad (the Department of Defense reported bombing an “Al Qaeda” facility in that location). The villages were hit by three large bombs which set residences ablaze, killed one villager and injured five others. The area had been a center of mujahideen bases during the anti-Soviet campaign during the 1980s.
