In
memory of
At least 13
civilians

during
the night of May 1, 2007
on
a highway in the Maroof district of Kandahar Povince near Spin Boldak.
The Taliban
resistance attacked a US/NATO occupation force convoy in the middle of
the
night. As usual, occupation forces called-in close air support. The
subsequent “precision”
bombing destroyed three vehicles carrying civilians. The Taliban
fighters
escaped into the night. A provincial assembly member, Janan Gulzai,
visited the
bomb site, gathered the details cited above from a resident, and spoke
with the
more independent-minded reporter
Saeed Achakzai of Reuters (the other mainstream media were not
interested in
reporting about civilians killed by US/NATO forces).
