An unknown number of civilians killed and injured

at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 3, 2007


in the village of Dandi Darpakhel on the outskirts of Miran Shah, North Waziristan, Pakistan. A U.S. drone fired two powerful missiles into a compound – one exploded, the other did not (see photo). The compound was completely razed and nearby homes damaged. Some 10 persons died and another 11 were wounded. Locals said the compound was used by militants. It is located near the madrassah of Taliban leader and veteran mujahideen commander, Jalaluddin Haqqani. A resident guessed that the U.S. strike was targeting Haqqani’s youngest son, Sirajuddin, who now is an important leader of the neo-Taliban.
