A civilian driver killed

4-5 other civilians injured

at 11 A.M. on September 19, 2007

 about 4 kms from the main Canadian occupation base at Kandahar air base. A Canadian armored vehicle – a General Dynamics RG-31 Nyala (photo) – ran over part of a civilian car, injuring five passengers. One died later at a hospital. NATO (ISAF) convoys move at high speeds for their own safety, but thereby impose hazards upon Afghan civilians driving. A NATO spokesman, Wing Cmdr Antony McCord offered the usual platitude, “ISAF goes to great lengths to ensure that patrols are conducted safely. This incident is deeply regrettable.” Next please…
