Abdul Saboor, a U.N. courier at the U.N.ís Afghan Technical Mission

Died at 9 P.M. on October 8, 2001

In the Yaka Toot neighborhood in northeast Kabul. The U.S. projectile missed its target (an anti aircraft battery and a radio tower) by some 400 yards. It landed on the two-story building of the de-mining agency, killing four U.N. employees. Abdul Saboor had arrived 2 hours before 9 P.M. after volunteering for a dangerous trip from Pakistan into Afghanistan on foot to deliver much-needed cash for salaries of U.N. employees.

A Tomahawk Cruise missile manufactured by Raytheon Corp. launched by U.S. Navy ships.
