in Kunar Province near to where Taliban had fired rockets at a U.S. forward operating occupation base in Sawkai district (sp?) very close to the Pakistan border. The civilians were hit during a U.S. “precision” bombing raid. The report was filed by Agence France Presse (not the Associated Press) and published in Pakistan’s Daily Times (September 3, 2007). The deputy provincial police chief of Kunar, Abdul Saboor, even confirmed the report. Predictably, the U.S. propaganda spokesperson at Bagram, Lt-Col. David Accetta, told the AFP that reports of civilian casualties could not be verified though at least one bomb had been dropped.
