slaughtered during the night of March 31/April 1, 2008

in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar Province. Hajji Shah Baran, district chief of Panjwayi, told Xinhua News that “NATO aircraft pounded three persons, all of them farmers when they were busy irrigating their lands in Panjwayi district Monday night, killing the trio.” He called on NATO occupation forces in Kandahar to investigate the incident. As usual, the first line of the NATO/US militaries’ news management procedure is to deny knowing anything about the incident. The next line of defense was trotted out by NATO announcing (no evidence ever provided) that NATO/US forces had killed three “insurgents.” The mainstream US media ignored the deadly attack, whereas Xinhua and the independent Afghan wire service, Pajhwok, headlined their wire reports “NATO air strikes kill 3 Afghan civilians.”
