In memory of and Sympathy for
~ 30 civilians killed
on Monday evening, March 17, 2008
in Marmal village, Sangin District of Helmand Province. An Afghan member of parliament from Helmand asserted that a NATO air raid had killed some 50 persons, telling DPA wire service, “according to our information from the area, only around 20 were Taliban, the rest of them were innocent civilians.” Others concurred that ~30 civilians had perished. NATO said that insurgents in 3 vehicles had been targeted “in an isolated area where there was no housing or civilian activity.” The photo shows a victim receiving treatment in a Kandahar hospital.
