2 children and another civilian killed

7 other civilians injured

at 10 P.M. on August 24/25, 2008

in the Haft-i-Asyab area in Syedabad district of Maidan Wardak Province. U.S. war planes bombed the area after the Taliban resistance had torched a number of vehicles earlier in the night. The result of yet another “precision” air strike was communicated to Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) by a resident, Muhammad Nasim. The US bombing killed two children, another civilian and wounded 7 others. The western press completely ignored this attack. The resistance is firmly entrenched in Wardak and regularly attacks supply vehicles on the Kabul-Kandahar highway (see Jeremy Page’s recent report at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article4592765.ece).
