2 Afghan security guards

next to a road being built near Seray at mouth of Korengal Valley, Kunar Province. The elders of a hamlet said an American artillery shell had killed a pair of security guards who had been hired to protect the road construction crew. The village elder, Shir Alum, told U.S. occupation soldiers based at Combat Post Seray, “If you keep attacking our villages, more men will join the dushman” (=Taliban). The Seray base was built in April 2007 to serve as protection while a 7-mile road was built by the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team up the Deywagal valley (road completed in February 2009 at a cost of $3.9 mn).
