Links of My Team Members' Assignment #8:
People are living in a world that we can easily exchange information. Whether should people have copyright or people can feel free to copy others work?
I think people shouldn’t be free to copy from others. An invention came from thousand times trying. However, some people prefer to accumulate experiences directly from others. Sometimes they tend to use others ideas and discoveries to serve for themselves. If these people are admitted to use that information, there is no doubt that people make progress and improve the real author’s ideas. But if you copy it without notice the owner, you make a copyright infringement. It is the same meaning that you steal their ideas. Government should protect people’s copyright..
I think there are three main opinions to protect people's copyright.
First of all, in most situations in the world don’t accept plagiarisms. If students copy others’ ideas without site them, they will be expel out of the class and get a zero on that paper. There is no excuse for them if they did something plagiarism.
Second, people need creation to invent new things rather than learn from others achievements. If everyone is constringed by others achievements and refuse to work by himself, there won’t be anything new other than old theories.
Third, people freely copy from others will reduce the benefit of the original authors or inventors. For example, suppose that you buy a CD from a store for 30 dollars, but your friends have the songs that in this CD downloaded from internet for free. You will feel you wasted 30 dollars and then you will probably refund the CD so that you can ask your friends copies of these songs.
