Some people doubt it harms the security of society if people know the orbits of satellites. Some intelligent crimes can use this information to ruin the society. Should governments post astronomers orbits to people?
People live underneath satellites. If anyone knows the orbits of satellites, people can do something illegal while hiding beyond governments’ censorship. The orbit of satellites should be refrained to be posted. The reasons are listed below.
I think there are three main opinions of this case.
First of all, the satellites orbits are useless for normal people. People can live without observing all satellites run. Amateur astronomers around the world don’t need to post every detail of satellites into website in order to let all every single person knows the orbits.
Second, these orbits can be taken advantages by some intelligent criminals. Criminals can use this technology to against satellites-controlled cameras on the street and do everything they want.
However, these orbits should be exposed to some GPS companies, because GPS companies need satellites to track each device.
