NX2000 Brakes by the Numbers
| Model | Rotor Thickness | Rotor Diameter | Caliper Piston Bore | Pad Surface Area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NX2000 | 22mm | 257mm | 54mm | 2.75in |
| Stock | 18mm | 247mm | 48mm | 2.615in |
| Difference | 4mm | 10mm | 6mm | .135in |
As you can see, the NX2000 brakes are quite beefier than the stock set-up. The larger rotor thickness and diameter will give you better cooling and a larger surface area for the pad to clamp down on. The stock brakes will tend to fade after a few hard braking sessions. This is no longer an issue while using the larger brake set–up.
The caliper piston bore and the slightly larger pad surface area are what really make the brakes feel stronger. The caliper piston bore size does not look like much of an improvement but when it's translated into hydraulic clamping force it makes all the difference. It allows for less pedal pressure to be applied for the same or greater clamping force than the stock calipers.
