Pine Valley Furniture, founded in 1935, by B. Igass Couch after his invention of the social seat. The seat then named for Couch became the hit of the century, following the opening of his first furniture store in Ontario Canada. Unfortunately the solid pine seat was soon replaced with other materials such as leather and linens, supported by springs or other forms of padding. Pine was the only resource availble for the furnitire makings of B. Couch so he stuck with his strengths in Pine Working and mainly built tables, chairs and cupboards for the upper middle class Canadian community. In the economic boom of the 80's the company then run by his son Billy moved and expanded to Bethel, Maine and Burlington, Vermont.
