Hate speech, a product of freedom of speech, can be found anywhere in our life. If I have to make a definition of hate speech, I will say it is a speech which is included your personal opinion. When we are attacking someone else, you must use your own opinion as a weapon. We can use some axiom as arguments to prove us right, but no one can really judge right or wrong. As a result the people who dont agree with this opinion say: that is hate speech.
Hate speech is always included some of bad words because the opinion is attacking something. Many countries advocate some limits on this, but most of time people can use other way to break those limits. So I guess we better do some limits on sufferer who is under attacked than the article. We may not do malicious personal attacks, and then we should focus on the idea or the speech. All the people are equal, and no one can do personal injury. Above this paragraph I may not do limits on the speech, but we hope to set limits on the target which is under fired.
I dont think we can attempt to reach an international consensus to deal with the problems of hate speech. When we are living in the different place of country, we have a few kinds of accents. An accent is a manner of pronunciation peculiar to a particular individual, location, or nation (The New Oxford American Dictionary. Second Edition. Oxford University Press. 2005). Based on the individual, location and nation, we have various cultures and thought. We are hardly to make up an international consensus because of the education.
I guess there are some censorship or filtering of hate group websites in the world, but it seems they were not doing well,lol. If they are existed, I guess they are under government. I dont think people will screen the hate speech and delete the one which is too harmful while they are not bored.
Yes, the creator of hate-oriented should hold responsible of the website. Once again if action of people does attack the people himself, we all have to delete the comment what he said. We should not focus on the people. Because you create the speech, you should keep it clean.
If I can do some special restrictions, I must place it to children. Children are too young to use their brain analyzing the speech right or wrong. They tend to be right for everything they saw by their eyes. They may analyze the article sometimes, but they are more likely accepting ideas they first meet. As a result I hope to put some special restrictions on children.
It should no distinction between what is legal online and what is legal offline. Society and internet are both human made. I rather say these are two planes but same relationship. Because those are what we made on earth, we should be doing the same thing.
Standards that apply to hate-related material should be same as the standards that apply to other objectionable material. If not, people would think you have too many rules or you have too many standards. Sometimes I prefer do the right thing rather than do something under others standard.
