CS403 Section 03

Lauren Barry - Assignment 4a

Back to Homepage | Assignment 4b

Theme
The theme of my project is literature; I intend to make a website about my favorite literary works from novels to plays to other pieces and covering material anywhere from ca. 15th century to modern day works. It will be some form of a "guide" to literature, but it will also be personal as it is tailored to my preferences as a reader.

This site will be different from others because of that personal aspect. I am certainly not a dignified critic (or a critic whatsoever), but simply someone who thoroughly enjoys to read and wants to help others become passionate about reading.

Goals
The immediate goal of this site is to help people with an interest in or love for literature find ideas for potential new reads from a fellow avid reader. Because I have experienced all of the works I intend on mentioning, I can give personal feedback which will help viewers decide whether or not a book is "up their alley" in terms of genre and other aspects. This will be a non-profit site, so money is not a concern. There may be some minor research involved for me in order to give many acceptable literary analyses, yet most of the site's information will be based off of what I already know.
Navigation
The navigational scheme of my page is going to be mostly hierarchical but partially exploratory. The main page will contain the broadest information, and the information will become more specific as the viewer makes his/her way into the site. For example, the main page may contain a general overview of the site and have links titled "16th century," "17th century," etc., and those pages would have links to authors I like, and the next level would specify the particular works of that author that I enjoy.
