As you can see, the Boston Red Sox have made a trade for now ex-San Diego Padre Adrian Gonzalez. It was a three player deal to bring Gonzalez to Boston, of those three was Red Sox star prospect Casey Kelly. Adrian is worth the prospects however. Adrian will be a dominant force in Fenway park. He is a left handed, power hitting, rbi driving monster. He plays first base which probably means Kevin Youkilis will probably have to start playing third base with Adrian Beltre out the door. Gonzalez hit .298 last year with 31 home runs and 101 rbi's. He knows how to bring runners home which is definitely something last years Red Sox was lacking.
Gonzalez will make our lineup look much more intimidating. If all goes well, we could have a very strong front 6 with Ellsbury, Pedroia, Youkilis, Gonzalez, Ortiz, and Drew to back them up. That front 6 will give pitchers in the MLB fits. If the Sox could somehow pull off a signing for Tampa Bay Devil Ray Carl Crawford, the Red Sox could have the most potent offense in the MLB. Not to mention how fast Crawford and Ellsbury would be on the base paths together.
Things are starting to look better for our old faithful Sox. We've been trying to get Gonzalez for a couple years now and now we finally have him. We still have a very strong pitching lineup, which always makes things better. The Sox will be a contender next year. Tampa Bay is going to lose some quality players in the offseason and the Yanks are only getting older.
